Janson Farm

Janson Coffee Farm

Janson Farm is a family-run farm run by the Janson family. It is located on the west side of Panama, at the eastern end of the Talamanca Mountains, on the slopes of the Tichingal and Baru volcanoes. With an average altitude of 1,350-1,700m, the farm's microclimate provides the perfect environment for growing coffee.

Janson Farm is a farm that was purchased in the early 1940s by Carl Janson, a Swede who was captivated by the land of Volcano. Under the slogan "Quality production with harmony with nature," the farm continues to cultivate coffee without the use of pesticides or herbicides, maintaining the nutrient balance of the soil using only enzyme microorganisms.

The cultivation area is divided into small lots for traceability and quality control. The energy used on the farm is generated by solar energy obtained from 400 solar panels, and all surplus materials generated during the production process are used as fuel and fertilizer.

Janson Farm also utilizes advanced technology to produce high-quality coffee while being mindful of the environment. In 1993, they built Beneficio, a production and processing facility dedicated to specialty coffee. It is designed to sort coffee by quality and growing area. They combine artisanal techniques with advanced technology in their production and processing. In addition to this production and processing facility, the farm also has a roasting facility to aim for higher cup scores.

Janson Farm cultivates Catuai, Caturra, Pacamara, and Geisha varieties. The Geisha is particularly outstanding, continuing to win awards at competitions and becoming known worldwide as "Janson Geisha." Approximately 50% of the farm's cultivation area is dedicated to Geisha cultivation, making it the second largest Geisha producing farm in Panama. This is an amazing farm that continues to produce high-quality coffee while coexisting with nature.
